China in emergency mode

The death toll from the Wuhan coronavirus now stands at 80, with almost 2 800 cases confirmed across China, CNN reports. Chinese health authorities said the virus could be spread during the incubation period and before any symptoms appeared. Wuhan has been quarantined, with all routes in and out of the city closed or highly regulated. China has extended the Lunar New Year holiday to February 2 in an attempt to discourage people from travelling and spreading the virus further. Travellers are advised to adhere to official reports and instructions.
